Claudia See
Claudia See is a junior at Canyon Crest Academy. With a music foundation in piano, Claudia began playing clarinet in 4th grade though she only began pursuing an active interest in clarinet in the 7th grade with private lessons.
Honors that mark Claudia’s developing musicianship include the Most Improved Musician Award at Carmel Valley Middle School and playing as first chair in middle school advanced band and multiple SDUHSD District Honor Bands. She also won first place in the junior division (2010) and grand prize in the senior division (2011) of the San Diego Clarinet Society Young Clarinetist Competition as well as 1st place in the 2011 MTAC duet competition. She was a finalist in the 2010 Wind Symphony Concerto competition, participated in the 2010 La Jolla Young Artist Competition, and is currently participating in the 2011-12 Los Angeles Music Spotlight Competition.
Additionally, Claudia has performed with the SDYS clarinet choir and Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church orchestra. She also received the Distinction award on the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Level Seven Practical Piano Exam and the Hedy King Robinson Prize for a Distinction on the ABRSM Level Five Piano Theory Exam.
Claudia now studies with Vladimir Goltsman. Other previous significant teachers include Alexander Gourevitch and Sheryl Renk. She previously held the position of second chair clarinetist in SDYS’ Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra, and currently performs as Principal Clarinet II of Symphony Orchestra.
