Orchestral Library/Parts Policies and Musician Responsibilities

All sheet music and textbooks distributed during the season are property of SDYS

Being a responsible musician and member of the ensembles includes being responsible for your loan of SDYS sheet music.  You should not, on any occasion, rely on your stand partner to bring music to rehearsals and concerts.

Parts

Lost Sheet Music

There is a lost sheet music replacement fee of $5 per part.  Replacement parts will be issued only after receipt of the $5 replacement fee, with a minimum of 3 working days notice.

Report lost music via the following form:

Rental Music

Occasionally, SDYS programs pieces that must be returned to the office upon completion of all rehearsals and concerts. Those that do not follow these rules may be subject to penalties and fees in accordance with copyright law.

  • All music must be returned to SDYS directly following the concert

  • All music must be returned to SDYS if a student withdraws or drops from the ensemble(s)

Markings

  • Write only in PENCIL (All markings must be removable)

  • Make markings as they are necessary and erase those that are revised.  Each part should accurately reflect bowings, articulations, phrasing and other necessary information for performance consistent with the conductor’s interpretation.

Please contact Music Librarian Ruben Hernandez rhernandez@sdys.org if you have any questions.
